These hand-sewn Kantha throws are crafted by artisans in Kolkata, India.
Each throw is a story of Freedom. In Kolkata is a large red light district. These throws are breaking the cycle of prostitution and allowing young girls another way, providing work and restoring their sense of dignity and selfworth.
Kantha is a traditional embroidery style of Bengal, involving simple and running stitches. The vintage sari material is stitched together with colourful thread to create these beautiful, softly layered cotton throws. Multiple quilted layers of reclaimed sari material make these Kantha throws thicker and warmer, and any small imperfections to the vintage saris (such as holes or snags) are carefully patched with matching fabrics to bring out each ones true handmade nature. Our vibrant sari blankets are also reversible so when you need a fresh look, just flip them over.
Each throw is one-of-a-kind so when it's gone, it's gone!
WASHING CARE: The blankets machine wash very well. We recommend washing separate in cold water and dry on low.
Size: Approx 2m x 1m Due to the handmade nature of these throws, the size may vary slightly
